"This...is a chemical burn."

It's been a very long time since I've read an issue of 2000 AD, but I seem to remember that one of the many concepts introduced in the Judge Dredd features was of a body processing system that removed the need for standard funeral burial and recycled the bulk of the body's elements for future use. With alkaline hydrolysis, welcome to the future. Now if we could just get everything else right...

The body processing system for dead bodies was also featured in Brave New World, long before 2000 AD. And while the feelies, escalator squash and electromagnetic golf, and laws prohibiting the creation of any games unless they consume more resources than existing games, may not be too far away, and others may already be here, I think official approval for BNW's education system may be some time in coming.

You've obviously never been to a Texas high school. The difference here, of course, is that this is a system that convinces all of the Deltas and Epsilons that they're actually Alpha Pluses.

I was referring to the sanctioned "erotic play" for small children and the use of electroshock aversion therapy to teach infants to hate nature... though if you told me that the latter was being tried as part of Bush's 'No Park Left Undrilled' policy, I would not be astonished.

I read that story. It ate some Redshirt Judges, then Dredd had to rescue a Female Judge from it. Sigh.
