The coolest moons in the solar system

Michael Reilly at IO9 (which is really turning out to be an interesting science-based competitor to Cracked.com) puts out his list of the top ten moons in our solar system, and it's pretty much the fascinating bodies that you'd expect. Sadly, Mimas didn't even make the list: I have to admit that I'm a sucker for any moon that managed to survive an impact almost strong enough to shatter it. Well, that and because I always thought that the crater Herschel would be a great place to put the solar system's biggest radio telescope.

That's no moon. It's a space sta- oh, no wait, that is a moon.

I particularly like that the circle for Phobos/Deimos is not round, just like the moons.

But Luna has names much cooler than Mare Tranquilitatis.

I should have you over to play Solarquest, "The Space Age Real Estate Game", which beats out Monopoly any day.

Yes, I am THAT geek and I own THAT game in absolute pristine condition.

If you have a pristine copy of Quirks as well, with both of the supplements, I'm in trouble. After about the third day of playing, the Czarina would think I'd left her, and I'd be pinned to the board with those sharp elbows of hers.

Cool but I think there would be too much radio interference from Saturn. I think a crater on the far side of Luna would be a better choice... looks like other minds had the same thought.

I agree Europa's my favorite moon. Enceladus comes in #2 for me right now with its water volcanoes/geysers - just imagine, it's either got active plate tectonics, or else shield volcanoes like Hawaii, except it's spewing its H2O "magma" at escape velocity! #3 is tied between Titan b/c of its prehistoric-type atmosphere, and Io b/c of its own sulfur volcanoes and resultant sewage ring trailing in its wake.
