The book sale continues

By the way, the Czarina is continuing her ongoing book sale, and she wants to make note that part of my extensive Harlan Ellison collection is now up. Anyone wishing to purchase Mr. Ellison's work at reasonable prices is welcome to make a bid, knowing that every purchase keeps her from burying her unsheathed elbows in my skull. After all, I have to earn my keep around here somehow, right?

That's up to the Czarina, but I'll vouch for you. I can vouch for you, right?

Oh, hell no. My checks bounce like superballs.

No, actually, I usually pay by check, and I've never had a complaint.

Selling any other Lovecraft beside that letters book? Is that a first edition?

Sadly, most of the other Lovecraft I had was sold in the previous run, but I'm thinking long and hard about getting rid of the rest. I have the last printing of the pre-Joshi revision of The Dunwich Horror, and that's probably going to go on the pile as well. I've had it since I was in high school, and I'm pretty sure I haven't cracked it open since then.

That the one with the green cover with Cthulhu or the black cover with Wilbur Whateley?

I'd like to find the 1960s Arkham House edition of Dagon. That was a freaky cover.

Black with Wilbur Whateley. I take it you already have it?

My biggest regret is that my original copy of The Horror In The Museum and Other Revisions was swiped by a friend of an old roommate. Of course, that's because I've been a Gahan Wilson fan since I was about five.

I just a won a fourth edition copy on eBay (nostalgia purposes... I have the green cover one, but my high school library had the black cover, which I devoured twice, becoming a lifelong Lovecraft fan). Is yours a first edition? If it is (and you really want to get rid of it) I'm sure you'll pull in quite a pretty penny on eBay.

I still have my The Horror in the Museum... w/Wilson cover. I bought it when I worked for Bob Weinberg (mentioned in my pulp article). I only wish I'd bitten the bullet and bought up the rest of the Arkham House first editions he had in 1985. Of course, what seems cheap now was prohibitively expensive then. I wish I could have afforded the copy of Weird Tales Bob showed me back then. It contained my favorite Lovecraft story--"The Whisperer in the Darkness"--AND it was autographed by Lovecraft. Dang.

Yes. Just let me know you are doing so, so I don't pester you about payment. (This, of course, is assuming you see anything you want to buy. )

*Captain Pedantic theme plays*

All that you have done is postponed your Day of Reckoning. While the Czarina's elbows are of course devoutly to be feared - and are much closer - if Ellison finds out you have been selling his books en masse and undercutting his retail sales, he will simply kill you and eat you.

Still, another day on the green side of the grass is nothing to sneeze at.
